No Strings Attached is an all-female string quartet from the Eastern Upper Peninsula of Michigan, who plays acoustic music across many genres, mainly blues, bluegrass, and folk with a few more (including a few classic rock tunes) thrown in the mix. In the short time together as a group, they have two original songs so far. "My Heart's in Michigan" was written to welcome Lake Superior State University's President Dr. Rodney Lowman to the community in October, 2007 and "Mary Ann's Leftovers" was written to express the band's demise over Mary Ann moving to California for the winter months. Mary Ann will return to Sault Ste. Marie for the summer months.

Prior to No Strings Attached, Mary Ann, Steph, and Jenn were playing together as "Those Three Girls" and before that, everyone played in other groups with other people and some of us still do. Judy sings with Ain't Misbehavin', Jenn is the bass player for the Sugar Island Boys and Girl, Steph is the bass player for the Bait Shop Boys and Mary Ann is the pianist for St. Isaac Jogues Church and plays for many community events during the summer months.

The name - No Strings Attached - for the all-female group was thought up on the way to a practice session one evening. The girls were trying to come up with a descriptive name involving something to do with strings, since they are an all-string band. No Strings Attached came to mind and it stuck. No Strings Attached could mean many things, but to the members of No Strings Attached, it simply means that there are no requirements to have a set number of musicians in the group. Whether all four original members are present, or three members, or the addition of new members are present to sit in on a session or two, they can do so with no strings attached.

No Strings Attached is performing this summer in the Eastern Upper Peninsula. Please check the schedule for dates and updates!
